Library Reopening Plan
Goal: To provide service to our community as long as possible while protecting the health and welfare of our staff and patrons.
Level One:
- Limited services begin.
- Hours will be 11-4 open to all patrons, 4-5 library will be closed for cleaning. If we cannot continue to function effectively we will move to Level Two service model. Board and media will be notified accordingly.
- Staff will provide call in “order filling” and curbside pickup
- Patron computers will not be available for use.
- Patrons will be encouraged to select items and leave in a timely manner.
- 10 patrons allowed in the building at a time, staff included
- Extra patrons will wait outside.
- No loitering in the library. Patrons may be asked to leave if they are there longer than 30 minutes.
- No public meetings or programming.
- Patrons and staff will be required to wear masks.
- Patrons who appear ill (excessive coughing) or express that they are not feeling well will be asked to leave.
- Hand sanitizer will be provided to patrons.
- Patrons will be expected to social distance in 6-foot intervals.
- Staff will be required to use hand sanitizer and/or wash hands regularly.
- Staff will sanitize patron surfaces regularly, including restrooms.
- Staff will be responsible to sanitize their own workstations regularly, including telephones.
- Drinking fountains will not be available for use.
- The telephone will not be available for patrons to make or receive calls.
- No magazines or newspapers available for patron use.
- Staff with a fever, cough, or shortness of breath will be expected to remain home.
- Staff will take and record their temperature at the beginning of each workday and will leave work if they have a fever of 100.4 or higher.
- Items will be returned to book drops or to bins at the circulation desks:
Staff will not check in or handle returns.
Returned items will be quarantined for 3 days prior to check-in.
Level Two:
- No patron access inside building, all doors will remain locked.
- Staff empties book drop and provides curbside service.
- Staff provides phone and online assistance.
- Staff works on internally focused projects such as weeding, collection development, program planning.
Level Three:
- No patron access inside building, all doors will remain locked.
- No items will be circulated, however staff will continue to monitor book drops and empty as needed.
The library board will reevaluate the guidelines on an as needed basis.
